Dental Bridges An Overview

Dental bridges are a possible solution for the replacement of missing teeth. Dental bridges can be used to replace a single missing tooth or may be designed to replace several consecutive missing teeth. A bridge is a permanent restoration which fills the gap left by missing teeth and allows patients to eat and speak normally after tooth loss.

Our practice uses state of the art digital imaging to create high quality customized dental bridges. Modern dental materials mimic the enamel of human teeth, creating a seamless replacement. The material is color matched and shaped to blend with adjacent teeth for a natural result.

Dr. Robinson has an artistic eye and passion for precision. He works with patients to design dental bridge restorations that enhance the appearance and support the long-term function of the smile.

Choosing a Dental Bridge

A patient with more than one missing tooth may decide to restore their smile using a traditional dental bridge or an implant-supported dental bridge. A traditional bridge is anchored in place with the support of two adjacent teeth while an implant bridge is connected to dental implants.

Implants are surgically implanted into the jaw and help to prevent secondary dental issues such as gum recession and bone loss from developing. Implant supported dental bridges do not require the removal of healthy tooth structure.

Implant dental bridges help patients smile with confidence as well as eat and speak normally. They are an excellent option to allow patients to enjoy restored natural function of their bite.

Dental Bridges What to Expect

The process for receiving a dental bridge will depend on the style of dental bridge that is right for you.  The type of dental bridge you need will be determined based on the number and location of missing teeth, your overall oral health, and your personal preference. Dr. Robinson will explain your personalized treatment plan to you in detail before beginning the restoration. We work with our patients to ensure that they fully understand their procedure so that they feel confident in their oral health care.

Whether you choose a traditional dental bridge or an implant-supported dental bridge, in just a few visits to our New Philadelphia dentist office, you will leave with a restored, healthy, and confident smile.

Traditional Dental Bridge

Dr. Robinson will prepare the anchor teeth by removing the necessary amount of tooth enamel. The teeth will be shaped to support the dental bridge. Molds will be taken of the space and used to create the custom dental bridge. Patients may be fitted with a temporary bridge while their final restoration is fabricated.

The patient will return to our office once the dental bridge is complete. Dr. Robinson will set the dental bridge in place and ensure that the fit, shape, and color are to the patient’s satisfaction. He will then permanently bond the bridge into place, allowing for the patient to leave with their beautiful new smile.

IMPLANT SECURED DENTAL BRIDGES

A dental bridge is commonly anchored in place using two or more dental implants. The placement of implants improves the stability and function of the bite. Many patients may have their dental implants surgically placed from the comfort of our New Philadelphia, OH dentist office.

Dr. Robinson surgically places the implants into the jaw bone. Typically, implants are left to heal for about 3-6 months. During this time the implants begin to integrate with the jaw bone forming a secure bond. Once the implants have healed,  the final dental bridge is custom designed and permanently anchored to the implants.
