Tooth Whitening An Overview

Teeth whitening is a simple, minimally invasive, and quick option for improving the appearance of your smile. Whether you are getting married, preparing for a big interview, or just want to look refreshed in your family’s vacation photos- a teeth whitening treatment can boost your self-confidence and enhance your naturally beautiful smile.

Professional Whitening For Ideal Results

Professional teeth whitening solutions provide superior results with fewer side effects when compared to the abundance of over the counter whitening options.  Professional grade whitening gels are specifically designed to reduce tooth sensitivity. Administered by a dental professional, in-office whitening is more precisely applied to protect soft oral tissues and gums.

Professional teeth whitening gels are highly effective and can improve the appearance of your smile and overall facial aesthetic. Whiter teeth are typically viewed as more attractive and provide for a more youthful look. Teeth whitening is an affordable addition to any smile makeover or can be used as a single treatment for a quick smile boost.

Tooth Whitening What to Expect

Dr. Caleb Robinson offers in-office and take-home teeth whitening solutions for whitening discolored teeth. For patients with tooth discoloration caused by trauma, damage or certain medications, additional cosmetic procedures may be necessary to achieve their ideal result. These types of stains are typically resistant to whitening gels, and porcelain veneers may be a necessary solution to produce a whiter smile. While natural dental enamel will generally respond well to whitening treatments, any prior dental work such as crowns, veneers and fillings will not respond to the treatments. A personal consultation will help Dr. Robinson determine which cosmetic options will work best for your unique needs.

Dr. Robinson will perform a thorough oral health exam to ensure that you are not experiencing any underlying dental issues. Depending on the cause of tooth discoloration, Dr. Robinson will make personalized recommendations on which type of whitening treatment will offer the best results.

In-Office Whitening for Discolored Teeth

In office teeth whitening can be highly effective. Teeth can be whitened several shades in as little as one visit. Patients will consult with Dr. Robinson and discuss whitening options. From there, patients can choose which treatment best suits their needs.

The gums and soft tissues are covered for protection. The professional grade whitening gels are then applied directly to the teeth. This step may be repeated a second time to achieve ideal results.

Take Home Whitening Kits

For patients who want a more gradual result, Dr. Robinson may recommend a take-home whitening kit. Take-home kits allow patients to whiten their teeth from the comfort of their own home. Teeth will whiten gradually over the span of several weeks.

Dr. Robinson will create custom whitening trays from molds of your teeth. The custom trays fit snugly against the teeth helping to minimize the exposure of the whitening gel to the gums.

The whitening trays are worn for a predetermined amount of time every day for about two weeks. Patients can then enjoy their brighter smile.

After the patient’s desired tooth shade is reached, the whitening trays should be kept and used intermittently to “touch up” the teeth to maintain the desired tooth shade.
