Dentures An Overview
Implant-Supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures are used to replace a full arch of missing teeth. High-quality and well-fit, they provide an excellent smile restoration option after tooth loss. This type of denture helps patients regain the function of their bite. It also improves their self-confidence by creating a beautiful smile.
Dr. Robinson uses state of the art digital technology and high-quality modern materials to create dentures that look like natural teeth. Dentures are personalized to the patient’s desired tooth shape, color and size in order to provide an ideal appearance.
Our dental care team works to build dentures that improve oral health and restore natural chewing function after tooth loss. Our goal is to provide patients a denture that they feel good wearing; one that improves their self-confidence and quality of life.
Dental implants require healthy bone tissue for a successful result. Implants fuse with the jaw bone and are used as anchors to secure the denture. Implant-supported dentures eliminate the embarrassment of traditional dentures which are prone to slipping.
Dental implants not only improve the stability of a denture, they also promote better oral health. The biocompatible nature of implants helps promote natural bone regeneration and prevent the facial sagging associated with the loss of teeth and bone. Dental implant secured dentures give edentulous patients the ability to enjoy a beautiful smile and oral wellness.
Patients who already have a denture may choose to have implants placed to improve the stability of their denture. If you struggle with an ill fitting denture, ask Dr. Robinson if you are a candidate for implant-supported dentures.
Traditional Dentures
Traditional dentures are another option for replacing missing teeth. Unlike implant-supported dentures, they simply rest on underlying gum tissue and remaining bone. Because this type of denture is more prone to slipping and movement, it does not restore the chewing function of natural teeth. It can, however, provide an esthetically pleasing smile and better function than having no teeth at all.
